I'm not *not* eating dogs...
A little note about the last post.
So yes, canine plays a small but very proud role in Korean cuisine. And I was surprised to learn that dog meat is actually exorbitantly expensive and so considered somewhat of a delicacy here. My hosts were really splurging on a treat when they invited me to the dog bowl. I've also found out that technically speaking, dog meat is prohibited by law in Korea, but there's no enforcement of the rule, since the dish I ate (Bosintang stew) is a widely-accepted traditional summer meal. The dog in the picture is my neighbour's dog, a Korean 'Jindo' I think, not a Goldie (distant Asian cousin?), and is quite adorable and still very much alive and uneaten.
I'd like to say 'I bravely tried the dog', but I didn't even know I was eating it - somewhat glad for that fact now. Would I eat it again? If I'm ever served it, I think someone else can doggy bag my portion....

my co-worker brent and i were talking about the word "lover" as a term of endearment and i told him that you called me that and i got all teary-eyed. at school. i looked lame. i miss you.
'lover' is the best term of endearment!
so one of the teachers took me for lunch yesterday to tell me she's worried about me being lonely, because my first week here I was all 'shiny', but so much anymore. I think she meant 'glowing'. anyway, you're my shine and i miss you too. oh and you need to get that teary-eyed thing looked at.
